Police Department

Officers

Each sworn officer for the Glendive Police Department must attend the Law Enforcement Officer Basic at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy within one year from the date of hire.  This 12 week academy provides the Officer with training necessary to perform the duties as an officer.  Topics include law, human behavior, police function, patrol operations, investigations, traffic enforcement and police proficiencies.  Officers are responsible for the patrol and investigation functions.

The patrol function is the backbone of the Glendive Police Department.  This function is responsible for answering calls for service from the public, patrolling the streets, accident investigations, and enforcing traffic and criminal laws.  Patrol also provides services outside the scope of daily, routine patrol.  These services include funeral escorts, residential and business security checks, animal control and vehicle inspections.

The investigation function is responsible for the investigation of both felony and misdemeanor crimes.  Some of these investigations include thefts, burglaries, forgeries, embezzlements, assaults, sex crimes and crimes against children.
